Program Note
This piece consists of eight-channel audio, using transducers driving the squares of watercolor paper within the larger sculpture. The recordings are of the 110 Freeway at Avenue 43 in Highland Park, and a stream at Millard Canyon Falls in the Angeles Crest National Forest. Both recordings were taken during the spring of 2024 documenting the record Los Angeles rainfalls that year and the constant flow of traffic along the 110 corridor.
The two hanging collages are made from torn, painted watercolor paper, enlarging and abstracting individual pixels from two photographs taken at these locations.
